Dave
Founder
(Certified 1975) began dancing as a child and later trained in college and New York city. David has been teaching and has owned and operated several successful dance studios across the United States for over 25 years. In 1995 he opened Dance North County to bring the highest caliber of dance and instruction currently available to the San Diego area. David obtained his initial degrees in the American style Smooth and Rhythm dances. He later trained under United States and World Champions to accomplish the International style Ballroom and Latin dances and competed professionally for fifteen years in that division. David now focuses primarily on teaching Authentic Agrentine Tango, Salsa and the many forms of Swing, Lindy and Jitterbug.
Mia
Instructor
Mia Laren began dancing in childhood and went on to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance as well as a Master’s degree in Public Health. She opened her first dance studio in Maryland before relocating to San Diego, where she has trained and guided hundreds of wedding couples and private clients in ballroom and partner dancing. With over 20 years of experience, Mia specializes in Latin dances such as Salsa and Bachata, along with Swing. She holds two associate degrees and is a certified Reiki practitioner, which allows her to bring a holistic, body-aware approach to every lesson. Through her studio, Wedding Dance North County, Mia helps her students feel confident, connected, and fully present for life’s most meaningful moments.
